THE MAIN EVENT
(formerly B Club)
Tuesdays, 7 p.m.
Wednesdays, 10am & 7pm
This SPECTACULAR monthly event is just too good to simply call it "B Club"!!! If you are a veteran of this club you know what we are talking about! Every month from October through June we invite world class professionals to our Doylestown store to share their knowledge and life experiences with our customers. Our guest speakers have national or international recognition and lecture on various topics, e.g., fashion sewing, quilting, fiber arts, heirloom sewing, and much, much more. In addition to a great line up of special speakers, our customers enjoy refreshments, show and tell, fun, friendship, and sewing excitement. The cost is $100 to join for the year or $25 per session if you choose to come for just one or two meetings, and we will prorate the initial annual cost as the year progresses. These programs are always one of the highlights of our month, so come see just how much fun they can be!
Below is the remainder of our MAIN EVENT line-up for the 2007-2008 season:
SEPTEMBER 30 & OCTOBER 1 (Please note that this is one week earlier than usual!)
MARY RAY - Mary is a clothing maker who loves detail, beautiful fabric, surface design, fine construction and great style. Her garments are wearable art - with emphasis on wearable - because she always starts with the premise that clothes are meant to be worn; they should flatter the body and be comfortable as well. Her trunk show is designed to teach and inspire, with something for sewers of all levels. Mary uses the most basic techniques to create wonderfully fashioned pieced and quilted garments, tailored garments and some easy-to-sew garments you can design yourself.
NOVEMBER 4 & 5
BARBARA BRUNSON - Barbara, of Vanilla House Designs, is a woman with a mission. She loves to sew and wants to share her knowledge and creativity with everyone. Her designs are wacky and whimsical, crafts to wearable art, like aprons and tote bags or dynamic and colorful home décor. Her designs delight sewers of all ages, simple but creative, utilizing trendy fabric options which appeal to new and experienced sewers alike!
DECEMBER 2 & 3
2
JANUARY 6 & 7
ELISA WILSON - You'll probably recognize Elisa's name and if not, you'll certainly recognize her quilts. She loves curves and color and she especially loves creating things to make it easy for people to work with curves. Her templates and her easy no-pin technique for sewing curves make easy work of your next art quilt. Come see how! Be sure to check out Elisa's Wednesday afternoon workshop under Special Events!
FEBRUARY 3 & 4
BARBARA PERSING AND MARY HOOVER - Barbara and her sister, Mary Hoover, discovered quilting independently, but share a strong sense of design and color. While their designs and construction are simple, the color strategies they employ will knock your socks off! Their designs are stunning, but easy and fat quarter friendly. Learn color tips you can use in any of your quilts.
MARCH 3 & 4
JANET PITTMAN - Janet takes many of her inspirations directly from her garden and finds wonderful ways to sew them into her quilts. Appliqué - using your favorite method - and end up with beautiful blooms to carry you through all the seasons. Janet's quilts combine easy to follow pattern details with beading and stitched embellishments to make your flowers look like you just picked them!
APRIL 7 & 8 (Sorry - No Wednesday night session this month!)
BOB PURCELL of SUPERIOR THREADS - This man should be named Mr. Thread. He has an incredible knowledge of what to use - when and why, and he'll share it all with us in his funny and informative style. Whether this is the first time you've attended Bob's seminar or you are returning for a refresher course, this is the absolute best and easy-to-understand information-packed seminar you'll ever attend. And maybe you'd better NOT ask him about his superior jokes!
MAY 5 & 6
PAT YAMIN - Pat, of Come Quilt With Me, comes to introduce her new book, One Patch Scrap Quilts. One patch quilts take us back to the very origins of quilting and yet still fascinate us today. A full trunk show accompanies her lecture of antique and new scrap quilts made from one patch patterns.
JUNE 2 & 3
LINDA LEE - Beautiful accessories, for you and your home, add personal style and grace to everyday life. Learn to create pillows, throws, placemats and napkins, curtains, lampshades and more using exquisite fabrics and details. As an interior designer, Linda brings professional creative aesthetics to projects. As a sewer, she understands that the finishing details are what make them sing. You will learn how to make perfect corners and hems, add sashiko and appliqué designs to surfaces and make easy rosettes, ruching and fringes.
